A couple in Fort Worth is sharing something good about second chances.
Patricia Govea Garcia and Michael Gonzales were freshmen at Trimble Tech High School when their love story began in 1982. Patricia soon returned to her home school, Diamond Hill, and the two lost touch.
But as Patricia writes in her message to NBC 5, “Little did we know that our story wasn’t over yet.”
In 2024, 42 years after those first movie dates and lunch dates, they found their way back to each other.
Here’s more of Patricia’s message to us:
“Michael found me on Facebook! And just like that, we picked up right where we left off. Who would have ever imagined that after all these years, life would bring us back together?
We sat down and talked about what happened all those years ago and why we broke up. We both knew there had never been any anger between us.”
As they talked, they realized their paths had crossed over the years. Michael had worked at the school Patricia’s children attended. They also knew some of the same people, but they never once ran into each other.
They also realized the love that blossomed as high school freshmen was still there, and on October 9th, they made it official and got married!
Patricia writes, “Sometimes life takes you on a long journey before bringing you back to where your heart first began. Our story is proof that sometimes love gets a second chance, even after 42 years.
Who would have thought that two freshmen from Trimble Tech would one day find their way back to each other and become husband and wife?
Our story began at Tech, but our forever begins today!”
